The best way to take gravestone photos for our website is to use the BillionGraves app on your smartphone. This is because photos taken with the BillionGraves app are automatically tagged with GPS coordinates so they can be plotted on a cemetery map.  Images taken with the app  are called BillionGraves GPS Headstone Records on our site.   

The BillionGraves app is compatible with iOS and Android devices with GPS capabilities. Your smartphone or tablet must have GPS functionality to run the BillionGraves app. To find more about recommended devices click HERE. Photos taken with the BillionGraves app are considered primary source records on our website.  

But what if you have already taken gravestone photos with another type of camera or using a phone camera without the BillionGraves app? These are still valuable records and, yes, they can be uploaded to the BillionGraves database! They will not have a GPS tag; however, these will be searchable on the website, and are called BillionGraves Headstone Records on our site.
