We do have content that our company has paid for.  This will remain viewable only with a subscription. However, if you do not desire to take out a subscription but would like to see high resolution images taken by volunteers, you can do so if you volunteer yourself.  

We require a small amount of your time in order to allow you to view all volunteer images for the life of the account. Transcriptions and written content submitted by volunteers is always free.  Volunteer high resolution images can be viewed for free if you take 500 photos or transcribe 250 images. Once the volunteer hours display on your dashboard, you will be given access to volunteer high resolution images. 

Why do we do this?  We have found over the years that some of our harshest critics, and those who complain about our site have never taken the time to actually volunteer. When those who would like to see content actually volunteer it helps everyone.  How might you ask?

•  When people understand the process, they are less likely to be critical of other volunteers. 

• Users who take the time to volunteer have a clearer understanding of the technology and the website.

• BillionGraves was founded on the idea that if everyone contributes a little bit, we can all have access to the world's cemeteries.  Volunteers all over the world have gone to their local cemeteries and photographed headstones in hopes that others would do the same. We want to reward our volunteers and encourage others to join the cause. 

If you don't have the time or patience to volunteer, no problem!  We have monthly or yearly subscriptions that will fit your needs.  We also allow users to earn subscription credits for the volunteerism that they do.  Not many sites allow for users these types of opportunities.
