When the app camera doesn't seem to want to work, it simply means that the camera is not picking up the GPS location from a satelite.

Here are some solutions:

#1 Log out and back into the device using the same credentials you use for the website. This is what tells the app to place the photos in your account. Sometimes it may look like you are logged in when you are not.

#2 Make sure your device has allowed location services for BillionGraves.  This might be the problem. If the device has allowed for location services there may be a problem with GPS.

For Android

Android phones will have the button green when there is great GPS location. In small letters underneath it will say, "great", "very good", and "good". To let the user know that the GPS location services are working. If it says "bad" and the button is yellow...

A. Wait for the phone to get a GPS signal from the satelite. This can take up to 5 minutes.

B. Check to see if the map in the corner matches where you are currently standing.  Then you will know you have good accuracy.

C. To speed up the process, open up Google Maps on your device and then wait. This will usually allow your device to be found by satelite.

For iPhone

iPhone users will have the camera button turn red when there is a poor GPS location.

A. Wait for the phone to get a GPS signal from the satelite. This can take up to 5 minutes.

B. Check to see if the map in the corner matches where you are currently standing. Look for a flashing blue dot, this is you. If the dot is in the right place on the map you will have good accuracy.

C. To speed up the process, open up Google Maps on your device and then wait. This will usually allow your device to be found by satelite.

For Both Devices:

***If you are in a building and can not get accurate readings go to settings in the app and toggle on the "Use Indoors Feature". This will be blue on the Android device when turned on and will be green on the iPhone when turned on.

A. Indoor feature places the photos at the last possible spot the GPS could be picked up from a device. It is not accurate, but will at least keep the GPS of the photos in the same location.  This setting is best in cathedrals and churches.
